Likely uses: To compare the circumstances of migrants following EU enlargement with other migrants and the UK-born population.

Users will note that since the data on Country of Birth are drawn from the 2001 Census, people born in the 2004 and 2007 Accession Groups are being enumerated in England or Wales before the accession to the EU of their country of birth.
Notes

The 2001 Census codes do not distinguish between the (former) East and West Germany; both are therefore included the '1951' category above.

The EU Special Territories (Outermost Regions, and Overseas Countries and Territories) have not been included in the above categories.
