Concealed family

A family, the head of which is not the head of household. For 1971, 1981 and 1991, it is difficult to identify such families using the information on the census form because relationships between household members are only specified relative to the head of household. Therefore the individuals in the family may appear to be unrelated non-family people, and the family is thus 'concealed'.

In 2001, the relationships between all household members are collected, and so these families are not concealed.
