SOC900 - 2001 occupations coded to the Standard Occupational Classification 1990
Derivation matrix created by ONS Occupational Information Unit for use in the Longitudinal Study and described in their user guide: OOSS User Guide 1990:18. It was based on a matrix to derive social class at the 1991 Census. It was closed by the OIU, to allow a valid social class for unusual combinations of occupation and employment status, using the priority order rules primarily associated with NSSEC.
